Nasser (Nubia, Aswan High Dam Reservoir)

General Information

Description Lake Nasser has a surface area of 6,000 km2 and a volume of 162 km3. Its mean depth is 70m and maximum depth 110m. Lake Nasser's catchment area is 2,849,000 km2. The Aswan High Dam supplies 15% more irrigation water, additional hydroelectricity, and some degree of flood protection, but has also had serious environmental impacts including increased erosion along the lower Nile and the loss of annual silt and flood water supply.
