Watershed Management

Issues Unsustainable fishing is a serious problem at Songkhla Lake. Fish traps are so pervasive, particularly in the lower part of the lake, that changes in water flow appear to be limiting fish and shellfish migration. The number of fish farms has also jumped almost 10 times in less than 20 years. Average overnight catches have dropped 40% over the last 20 years (2003).
Other Issues Nutrient pollution
