Biodiversity Needs Assessment Survey
This project is no longer active as of 2008.
The Lake Biodiversity Needs Assessment Survey is a tool designed by LakeNet to help lake watershed organizations or governments assess their needs with regard to understanding and protecting their lake’s biodiversity and to identify possible areas of their programs that might be prioritized or strengthened. The objectives of the survey are to:
1. Bring together the information necessary for prioritizing biodiversity work in specific lake watersheds;
2. Provide a vehicle for the international collection of critical information on lake biodiversity that can be aggregated by LakeNet to give a clearer picture of lakes’ tremendous biodiversity and the substantial problems that threaten them; and
3. Provide a sense of the many diverse programs and approaches needed to protect the rich plant and animal life in and around lakes.
