Japan and the Global Environment Facility have offered the Philippines just over $1 million in grants for protection and preservation efforts for Laguna Lake. Japan provided most of the funding, contributing $988,400 in grants.
The grants will aid the Laguna Lake Development Authority in preparing an environment and watershed management project to improve the sustainable management of Laguna de Bay's water and land resources. The projects will be carried out with the support of local government offices, civil society and the private sector.
